Report

England won the Five Nations Under 21 Netball Championship in 1992. The country is one of the top Netball Nations in the world, but the Republic of Ireland went into the tournament hoping to come second after their heroicsat the World Championsips the previous Autumn.

The Irish girls were to be disappointed, however, as they finished last in an anti-climactic finish to their season, losing by just three goals to Northern Ireland, and then soundly beaten by England in Day 1 at Belfield. On Day 2, Sunday, they continued their losing streak, as they went down by six goals to Scotland, and then were well beaten by Wales, who finished runners-up to England, in the final match.

Northern Ireland fared little better, going down by 50-19 to England on Day 2, giving England the trophy, and on Day 1 losing by six to Wales and then after defeating the Republic of Ireland, losing by eight goals to Scotland.

History: One of the original Irish Baseball league teams in 1997, the Belfast North Stars travelled down to Dublin to play in the early years, before a permanent Home Ground was built in Hydebank Park in Belfast. They reached the Irish Baseball League Plyoffs in 2003 and Trophy Playoffs in 2005, winning the second level Chmpionship. They qualified for the Baseball Ireland A-League Playoffs in 2011, 2013 and 2014. They dropped down to the B-League in 2015. Their greatest achievement is winning the All-Ireland Championship in 2016, defeating the Dublin City Hurricanes B. They won the B-1 League Pennant and Championship in 2019, but lost the B-League Final.

Report

The Softball Ulster 2019 season was down to 5 teams from 6 in 2019, following the loss of the Belfast Angels.

At a little over halfway, the Aces led with a 4-2 Wins-Losses record, however both the Belfast Brawlers and Belfast Cubs had better records, standing at 3-0 each, putting them minus 0.5 games behind in the standings (i.e. 0.5 games ahead). Belfast Sliders were on 2-4 and Bangor Bucs on 0-6.

By the end of the season the Brawlers had finished out with five more wins, including two close crucial ones against the Cubs (14-10 and 22-20). In a tight race for second the Cubs finished on 5-3, the Aces 4-4 and the Belfast Sliders 3-5.

It was the Brawlers fifth Softball Ulster League Pennant in a row. The Belfast Sliders were the last other team to win it in 2015.
